Trying New Places

I have been pretty comfortable going to City Mall, getting what I need and getting back to the car as fast as I can :-) It is a process navigating a foreign place with three small kids! We have only been here 2 weeks and I am sure I will have a system in no time.

The City Mall market is nice but it lacks in fruits and vegetables. Will told me that he ran into a different store on his way home from work; First Family. In our welcome book they listed out all the stores to get what at. There was a section for grocers, toy stores, malls, alcohol (which I will say is strange to walk into grocery store and see shelves lined with multiple kinds of Vodka and other hard liquor! No Texas Blue Laws here folks!), drug stores, and restaurants (Will found a Subway). First Family is open 24/7 so I was going to have a car get me at 6am and do the shopping before he left and have a peaceful shopping experience. That didn't happen.

The same driver who took Will at 10 to the airport, came back at 1030 to pick the kids and I up for the store. His English was great! Heavily accented but I could actually have an English conversation with out resorting to broken "Rusglish", Siri sounding voice on Google Translate, or just sitting in silence. He was actually the first driver to get out and come to the door to help with the car seat and herding the kids to the car.

He was amused with kids and told me about his. Mike kept talking about the airplane so the driver was telling him how he just took his daddy to the airport. I also learned some nice info on what new things are being built. It was a nice ride to the store.

This store was smaller than the City Mall Market but the produce was AMAZING! Green leafy veggies are still hard to come by but I am sure I'll find them eventually. It was easy to navigate but small and crowded. There was even a prepared food section. The car waited for me so if I wasn't in a hurry I would have taken pictures. Maybe next time.

On the way home we talked about the snow. He said it snows ALOT! I said the kids have seen snow once in their lives and he laughed. Asked if I had warmer coats than the fleece they were wearing.

Next time I head to this store I am going to try and go kidless :-)
