These trips do not even phase me anymore. Will has been traveling with Exxon since Mike was born so 10 days is a piece of cake compared to some of the trips Will has had to take. But for the kids, 10 days feel like forever. They are now at the ages where they really notice his absence. Ash thought Will was just going to work since she always has time with him in the morning.
When we lived in Houston, Will would leave for work at 430am to hit the gym before hand. So the kids never saw him until he came home. Now, the gym is a 3 minute walk from the house so he works out at 5am and by time he gets back the kids are up. They have a whole hour in the morning to have quality time with Will before the bus gets him at 7. It is pretty amazing!
Sadly, the car for Will came early. He said his goodbye's and headed out. Kids watched from the porch and cried. I think once Ash saw him leave with luggage she knew he was doing something other than going to work. She silently let the water works flow... That's the worst!
All the little ducks in a row :-) |
