Back to the Mountain!

We are definitely making the most of our current location in far east Russia. In the past 7 days I have been to the mountain 3 times and Will 4 times. It is so easy and convenient. Depending on traffic it can take anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes to get there, Not too shabby. So we went this past Friday for 2 hours and today for about 4.5 hours.

The weather this morning was nice but the snow was coming down pretty good. We went up the first gondola and got off at the halfway point to test out the legs on a easy "green" trail. When we got off the gondola a second time we wanted to go up to the top and hit those runs but the winds picked up and the upper gondola and lift chairs were not running. There was this contraption that is a snowboarders worst nightmare... The "T-Bar" - Well it was my worst nightmare, all the other boarders made it look super easy. I on the other hand had two of the most embarrassing moments of my life today. I fell off not once but twice. Not sure what happened but yea... I fell, I rolled, I got stuck... Will laughed and laughed some more. I tried again.. Same outcome but much worse. I fell end over end. I was done. No top of the mountain for me, I was sticking to green trails.

Here is how you are supposed to ride the T-bar on a snowboard. Looks simple enough right? Pretty fool proof right? WRONG!

This is not me but this is basically what I looked like :-)

I sent Will on up to get some runs in and I stayed in the middle section and waited for him. These pictures are of the upper mountain runs. It was snowing pretty bad and once again visibility was terrible.

There was some kind of time trials or training going on in the middle section. There was a group of people with the 2014 Sochi Russian Team jackets on. Pretty cool to see.

This is the middle section for the first gondola drop off and the next set to go to the top.

View down the green runs (This is where I was forced to stay since I could not figure out the T-bar)

Why not... Lets take a Selfie

God must have felt bad for me and my misery with the T-bar because when we came back up to the middle drop off the upper gondola and lift chair were running!!! It was turning into a great day!

The views were amazing! We went on the Serpentine run down the whole mountain next. It was a green run. I wanted to test this out because we are really thinking of getting one set of kids skis and one kids snowboard and take the kids out here. There are so many really little kids out there today. Lots with their parents just walking down the mountain while they help their kid on skis.

Hello Yuzhno!

Going up the lift

Look how much clearer this view is compared to the one above!

This is one of two quick snack houses and a place to just get warm and sit.

Down the same green run from above.

These next two are those 2014 Olympic folks I was talking about

There were 7 of them - I didn't see any cameras but there were lots in the Olympic attire and others in race suits.

All in all it was a good day. Hopefully we can get back out on Friday night!
